Bosphorus Bridge connects Asia and Europe.

Maiden's (Leanders) Tower was built in 408 BC on an islet to control ships entering Bosphorus. It was used by Byzantinians and Ottomans. Turkish legend is that a sultan kept her daughter here to prevent a prophecy that she would die of a snake sting. Anyhow, she was bitten by an asp that was hiding in a fruit basket.

Rumeli Fortress was built by (Fatih) Mehmet II in 1452 across from Anatolian fortress (at the narrowest point of the straight) right before the siege of Constantinople.

Back alley in Beyoğlu. It is a historical district called Pera before the Turkish Republic.

Clock tower at the gate of Dolmabahçe Palace. The palace was built in 1856 by Sultan Abdulmecit. Founder of the Turkish Republic Ataturk also resided and died here.
